Exploring Excellence Through Accreditation

CAAOPresident2009.JPG

      Greetings CAAO Members!

Welcome to the Correctional Accreditation Association of Ohio, CAAO. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the website and all of the recent updates including the 2010 Correctional Accreditation Manager's Association (CAMA) Conference, our latest newsletter distributed in March 2010 and Membership information.
.
CAAO Board Members continue to focus on the CAMA Conference returning to Columbus, May 2nd - 4th, 2010!  In my opinion, CAMA provides the best quality of workshops on a National level offered to all conference attendees who are involved in Accreditation.  Whether you are a seasoned professional or new to the Accreditation process this conference will offer a variety workshops to meet individual attendee needs.
.
As many of you know, in 2009, CAAO offered one day regional trainings to members specific to Fire Inspections.  Due to the success of the regional trainings CAAO is looking at providing more regional training opportunities to our members in 2010.  Check back with us from time to time for a listing of future regional training opportunities.
.
On behalf of the CAAO Board, we would like to take this opportunity to thank each of you for your continued support and membership.
.
We look forward to seeing you at the CAMA conference in May.
  .
Sincerely,
Dawn Baker

Nominations Sought for Corrections Awards
CAAO will be presenting two awards for “Excellence through Accreditation” at the 2010 CAMA Conference in Columbus, Ohio hosted by CAAO.
The Geno Natalucci-Persichetti Award for Excellence Through Accreditation is given to an individual or organization in the field of Juvenile Corrections that has exhibited professionalism in the area of corrections, and specifically in the area of accreditation.
The Reginald A. Wilkinson Award for Excellence Through Accreditation is given to the individual or organization in the field of Adult Corrections that has exhibited the same traits.
Both awards are named for corrections professionals who have contributed significantly to the field of corrections in Ohio and nationally, and have been leaders in the area of accreditation.
Geno Natalucci-Persichetti (Retired) was Director of the Ohio Department of Youth Services and is the former Chairman of the Commission on Accreditation for Corrections (CAC).
Reginald A. Wilkinson, Ed.D., was Director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and is former President of the American Correctional Association.
Both are previous recipients of the prestigious E.R. Cass Correctional Achievement Award from the American Correctional Association.  Because of the efforts of these two men, Ohio has been a national leader in corrections and correctional accreditation.  These awards were created to honor our colleagues who have exemplified the example set by these corrections leaders.
Nominees may be submitted from either adult or juvenile corrections, in any segment of the correctional field.  All CAAO members are eligible to submit letters of nominations and one nomination will be selected in the adult correctional category and one from the juvenile correctional filed.  Please take a moment to think of agencies or individual whom you think are deserving of these awards.
Your nominations should be narrative form and include the individual or agency name, date of submission and explanation as to why you feel this individual or agency should be considered for the Geno Natalucci-Persichetti award or the Reginald A. Wilkinson award.  Please include your name, title, location and contact information.  Please submit your nominations to CAAO at P.O. Box 1566, Columbus, Ohio 43216-1566 or at www.accreditationohio.org by March 1, 2010.
